Youth dies after falling from 3rd floor

Did Dehiwala computer-student jump from 3rd floor ....or fell down while vomiting?

How a 20 year old boy fell down from a 3-storeyed building at Charles Place, Dehiwala early this morning around 1 o'clock still remains a mystery.

On a tip-off received by Dehiwala Police about an individual who had fallen from a building early in the morning, it was suspected on inquiry by police that the deceased had been attending a party with a group of friends on the night of the 10th and that he had consumed liquor on that occasion and not being able to stand the strength of liquor had tried to vomit and had fallen from the 3rd floor. but it has specifically still not known whether the victim had fallen because someone had pushed him or whether he had jumped and committed suicide.
It has been identified that the deceased is one Chandrakumar Gopi aged 20 years and is a resident of Wellroad, Vavuniya. the deceased has temporarily been living in Wellawatta area and had been following a course of studies on Computer Science at an institute in Colombo.

Dehiwala police say that 11 of his friends are being interrogated over the demise of the youth.

The victim who had been putting up temporarily at a lodging house in Wellawatta had come to attend a party thrown by a friend in Dehiwala on 10th night and on that occasion there had been 11 others who attended the party.At the party, all of them had also been consuming liquor and it has been understood that the drinking session had progressed till 2 in the morning the following day.It has also been learned that he had fallen down from the building around 1 in the morning when the session was still in progress.

The fact that 6 of the friends had left for home even when such a tragedy has occured as if nothing had happened has aroused the suspicion of the police. The rest of the friends had put up in the house itself and a resident in that housing complex had observed a young man fallen down bleeding and had informed the police, after which investigations had begun. The deceased has had only a few abrasions on his body.

The police are conducting investigations from various angles in order to find out whether this student had accidentally fallen down from the building of the housing complex or else the friends who were drunk had by way of fun pushed him or the student himself had committed suicide by jumping down.
