Though various news is reported from time to time about appearances of mysterious objects, it is difficult for most of them to be confirmed on a scientific foundation.
Attention has been once again drawn to an incident where a 14 year old boy living in Pahala Kudapattiya area in Kahatagasdigiliya has seen an object similar to a golden-coloured brass-pot in shape emerging from a stretch of fields in that area and then going towards the sun. Some photos of this mysterious object has been now received.
This boy who had been on his way to bring a herd of cattle had noticed an object dazzling in a stretch of fields and had tried his hand at clicking some photos from his mobile phone.
Since the incident has occured 200 metres close to the archaeological burial ground of Gurugalhinna in Kahatagasdigiliya supposed to run as far back as King Devanampiyatissa's era, reporters say that there is some supernatural significance in this phenomenon.
Chryshantha Chamal Prematilleka who has gone to the place referred to last 20th evening in order to bring back a herd of cattle home said that he witnessed an object shaped like a brass pot glistening in gold colour and that he photographed the object with the mobile phone which was in his possession.
"I, my mother and grandmother went to bring the herd of cattle. My mother asked me to go because the cattle may wander elsewhere. When I was coming after crossing the tarred road, I saw a glistening object. When I got closer and had a look ... it was something in the shape of a brass pot. When I tried to grab it, it started shaking and began to travel upwards. Then with the phone I had, I took about 4 shots. After that when I went and told the Grama Sevaka and the Environmental Officer of the Provincial Secretariat office, they came and had a look and went away," the boy said.
What CHryshantha Chamal studying in grade 10 of Kahatagasdigiliya Maha Vidyalaya said was that the object shaped like a brass pot kept shaking for about 2 or 3 minutes and then drifted towards the sun.
