Mother shows her nude .... daughter exposes her breast, when police goes to raid ganja
Harassment to women has now become a common occurence in most places. It is also reported that in order to escape the police, certain people have now begun to utilise women harassment and even nudity as their strategy.
Ambalanthota police on receiving information that ganja (marijuana) was being sold at a kiosk which was operating in Walewatta area in Ambalantota by a woman, the police had gone there to make a check on the place concerned on which occasion such an incident was reported.
The kiosk owner, a woman aged about 57 years who sensed that the police had arrived to conduct a raid had removed all her clothing and had thus appeared totally nude. In this manner they had challenged the police shouting to take her into custody if possible and had further yelled that the police were trying to cause her trouble, thus disturbing police duties.
Subsequently the woman's daughter too had come to the scene and had on her part exposed the top part of her body and she too has yelled out that the police officers were creating trouble for her and her mother.
It however did not take much time for the neighbours to realise what was happening at the site between these two women.
Later, under instructions of Sub-inspector, Mr. D.M.V. Samanjith of the Traffic Branch of Ambalantota police, some women constables were despatched to the place of the scene and had taken the nude woman into custody after covering her body with a cloth.
The suspect was produced before Hambantota Magistrate with 500 mg. of ganja which was found inside the boutique during investigations there. On orders of the Magistrate, the woman was asked to be remanded.
The investigation was conducted by several officers including Sub-inspector Mr. Samanjith, Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Branch under instructions of Mr. W.T. Wijeyratna, Officer-in-Charge of Ambalantota police.
