German MC Chief enters monkhood

Mayor in Germany becomes a monk in Mihintalawa

An individual who had served as a Mayor in Germany and was disgusted of life in the face of various problems entered into monkhood recently at Mihintalawa Viharaya. He is a person by the name of Hermann Archive.

Hermann who is 50 years old had been serving as a Mayor in Germany for a period of 14 years and it is reported that during that time he had encountered a host of bitter experiences. Because his married life went on the rocks, he had begun to read books searching for some consolation for his life. In the meantime, a female member of the town council where he served and her husband together had made him become interested in the Buddha dhamma. Later, he had developed an interest in Buddhism. In the process, Hermann had taken steps to study about the Buddha dhamma from Waivawahangun Wewe Dharmaratana Thero, Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Raja Maha Vihara who was on a tour in Germany.

Subsequently Hermann had decided to further conduct activities in this connection by being inclined towards Buddhism after coming over to Sri Lanka and it was by becoming a Buddhist monk under the name of Germaniye Ratana Siri.
