Monkey searches in other buses ......
for deceased driver-friend
A driver of a CTB bus had struck up a friendship with a monkey that had been always loitering at the bus stand in Amparai for quite sometime. The animal used to eat whatever is given to it by this driver and had made it a custom of travelling on top of the roof of the bus of the driver for some distance. But unfortunately this driver had died quite suddenly.
Not being aware that his friend the driver had passed away, feeling lonely, the monkey had been confused and had spent the time searching for the driver, it is reported. In this way the monkey had been attached to this driver for some months in this manner.
Anyhow, after this driver's death another took to the wheel. The animal unaware of the absence of his dear friend, had as usual climbed the roof of the bus the next day too. However, instead of his friend, it was another who was there ... the animal had realised. Understanding the situation the monkey was seen trotting away in search of his friend as to whether he was in another bus. But not being able to find him the monkey was confused and had been going from bus to bus peeping around. However, it was not limited only to that day.
Still the animal is seen exhausting himself in the search for his never-to-return friend. Though drivers of other buses and passengers as well had been supplying eatables and food to this monkey who had lost his friend, it is understood that the animal had rejected anything that was given to it. Those who had witnessed this scene are amazed of the affectionate quality this animal possessed when human society often forgets a lifelong help given to someone, in a split of a second.
