Story of Paba going for
shooting .....
taking a dog with her
It is reported that member of parliament, Upeksha Swarnamali who wanted to gain access to the botanical gardens of Henerathgoda, Gampaha to attend a shooting session in a teledrama last week was stopped at the gate by officers there.
They said that permission was not given to admit entry to dogs to the Gardens according to rules of the Gardens. When she was told that pets were not granted entry, Paba had begun to complain. "Aney ... there's no one to look after him at home". However, the officers had rejected her request saying that if they did not adhere to the rules and regulations, they would have to face a problem where their job was concerned.
Paba had then peeped into the Gardens and noticed dogs running here and there. "Then there are other dogs there inside the Gardens ... are those rules only for me? You should get rid of them also no!" What the officers said about the stray dogs loitering in the Gardens was that those dogs are those who had crept through the fences and entered the Gardens.
Paba who did not deter from this argument of the officers kept on arguing, using her privileges of being a member of parliament in order to take the dog in. Finally, the officers had given in to Upeksha's political strength. "Okay .... then take the dog in ... but if your dog by chance bites somebody inside the Gardens, you have to hold yourself responsible ... okay?"thus they had given a pre-warning before she took the dog in.
Though Upeksha who escorted the dog for the shooting of the teledrama and kept the dog on a side and attended the shooting, dogs loitering around in the Gardens, it was reported did not much like the visitor. It was reported that the dogs had kept on sniffing the new visitor and started fighting as a result of which the shooting had to be stopped from time to time and Paba had been involved in chasing away the dogs to protect her pet from them.
It was further reported that Paba received this dog-friend at the Kennel Exhibition organised by Odel organisation a few days ago.
