Who sends obscene MMS to Emirates officer?

Mobile phones can be used for good purposes as well as bad purposes. When Technology keeps advancing, instead of limiting the sending of messages by mobile phones, some people had been using that facility to send various data in a wrong manner. Many things that could put one's enemy into inconvenience can now be done by using a mobile phone.


An airline manageress who had constantly been receiving obscene data had been trying her best to get rid of this annoyance and trouble ... and when no solution seems to be forthcoming, she had finally decided to seek the assistance of courts.


A lady happens to be the victim of this menace and she is attached to Emirates Airline service at Slave Island in Colombo as an Administrative Manager. She had been for some time receiving obscene MMS on her mobile phone and as time went on she had started receiving photos of sexual scenes from time to time. The notable feature in this connection is that the MMS were not only from one particular call number.

When some obscene MMS had been sent by a Dialog number, at another time it had been from a Hutch number ... and sometimes it had been from a Mobitel number. If not, it happens to be from an Airtel or Etiselat number. When she rings those numbers, the point that there had been no response is another special point in this case.

According to rules and regulations issued in the past, when buying SIM cards, they have to be obtained after proving their identity according to registered laws of the government. Though Dilanga had contacted the relevant mobile companies in order to escape this trouble, the response given by them is by no means a simple one. "Madam ... if we are to divulge the identity of any number, it can't be done without a court order" was the reply and that was the response given by all such companies.

Thus, because of this caller-menace, this Administrative Manager got into difficulties once again.

As there was no way out of this problem, she decided to complain to the police and seek the help of the courts. As such, Fort Magistrate and Addl.District Judge Mr.Thilina Gamage ordered the relevant phone companies to forward phone call reports to Slave Island police of the culprit in order to arrest this person who had been sending obscene words and photos of sexual scenes to her mobile phone via MMS.
