PC member who made teacher kneel down .......supposed to get nominations
It is reported that the former PC member Mr.Sarath Kumara who punished a teacher of Nawagaththegama Maha Vidyalaya would be given the opportunity to hand over his nomination papers for the forthcoming provincial council elections of the North-Western province on a decision made by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. But in this instance when the former incident created an uproar, it was a different story that came up.
Party sources say that on a request made by the former PC member by meeting leaders of the SLFP, this decision had been arrived at.
The former PC member who was remanded, later abandoned his position of membership in the provincial council. Though certain media reported that it happened as a result of instructions received from above, the PC member Ananda Sarath Kumara issued a special statement saying that he resigned from his position on a decision taken by himself in order to be an example to the nation.
