District Judge had tried creep into Magistrate's Chambers on date of hearing case
Former Homagama District Judge who was taken into custody and remanded on a complaint of having accepted a bribe of 3 lakhs on the promise of granting a favourable verdict was brought to courts yesterday. On that occasion he had tried to creep inside the Magistrate Chambers, which caused some disturbance. The Magistrate expressed his displeasure in this connection and had warned him. He also severely warned the jail guards for their conduct not to repeat it in future. Before the case was called, the suspect Judge was retained inside the Chambers and when proceedings began, the first thing that the Magistrate asked was why such a thing was done.
Magistrate: "Why was the suspect brought to the Chambers?"
