Jiah Khan's last rites conducted amidst mourning

A Bollywood star who had an untimely death ......   having abnormally suspected lover

     The last rites of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan who hanged herself was concluded a short while ago in India amidst film stars in Bollywood. Though there were doubts whether she had committed suicide or had been murdered, according to medical reports issued last evening it was confirmed that suicide was the cause of death. The report says that the cause of death is hanging herself. The chemical report as to whether she was intoxicated at the time of death has still not been received.

   According to evidence gathered so far, it has been confirmed that this has happened over a conflict she had in a love affair. The statement given by her lover who is supposed to be Suraj Pancholi says that she had suspected him of having struck up a friendship with another woman and many quarrels had ensued between the two during the past few days. Since Jiah Khan had been living with her mother in the same house, information gathered from her mother confirms this. She had said that even about 8 months before this she had taken alcoholic drinks and had suspected her lover and had tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrist with a blade. She further admitted that throughout the past, Jiah had lived with much mental anguish. However, it is reported that after Jiah and Suraj became lovers, that whole family has had a close relationship with them.

   Jiah Khan committed suicide on the night of June 3rd. It is reported that after participating at some function on the evening of June 1st, she had met Suraj and he had gone with his parents to his house that night and she had put up at Suraj's house. She had loitered around with Suraj the following day and had taken dinner and finally Suraj has dropped her at her apartment.

   CID reports indicate that throughout Monday the 3rd she had been conversing over the phone with her lover on over 10 occasions. The two of them had sent a number of SMS to each other. It has been revealed on inquiries that Suraj had taken steps to reject Jiah's calls from that evening apparently because of statements of allegations aimed at him. It was revealed that she had sent an SMS in the evening which meant 'Why don't you send me a reply?'

   Whatever it is, a courier service had delivered a boquet of flowers at about 9.15 that night to the watchers of the apartment to be given to Jiah. The wording on the boquet read: To Jiah ... From Suraj. With Love. Jiah had been in the house at that time in the company of a servant woman. It is reported that as soon as she had received it, she is supposed to have called him once more and had said something like: 'I want to meet you this night itself". The servant gave evidence saying that Jiah had left the house around 9.30 tha night. She then returned at about 10.53 p.m. and had told the servant, "No point Deva ....Suraj is busy ... I spoke to him outside ... but he said he can't meet me". Once again she had sent an SMS for about 2 minutes from her house and thus sent her last SMS at 11.07 p.m. She had hanged herself on the ceiling fan at approximately 10.30 that night. Investigations conducted by Mumbai police to unravel the reason for her sudden suicide is still not over.

    On the statement received from Suraj by the police, he had said that there is no reason for her to go to the extent of committing suicide. He had said that Jiah was suspecting him abnormally has become a problem and discussions have taken place regarding their marriage. At the time of her death, her sister and mother had been attending a dinner where Suraj's father too had been present. Jiah Khan who suspected her lover beyond reason that it caused her so much mental pressure was only 25 years old when she died.

    She had acted only in3 films. She became popular because of her acting in a revolutionary Bollywood film called Nishabdh which portrayed romantic mental stress. It was said that because of allegations aimed at that film, she had avoided signing anymore new contracts for a period of about 3 years.

    Her last rites this evening was conducted in Mumbai amidst a number of actors and actresses. Amir Khan, Diya Mirissa and Amitha Bachan were shocked and have expressed their grief over Jiah's sudden death.
