The prisoner who was fasting for three days on top of the prison roof who after getting down had been a poor state of health. He had been admitted to the Colombo’s National hospital for treatment.
There are two kinds of prisoners according to Mahesh. The VIP prisoners with privileges who are fed with one type of spoon and another type like who is fed from another type of spoon he had confessed. On these grounds he had sought for his release.
He has had in his possession a document to prove that a prisoner who had been sentenced to a long term imprisonment had been released after five years. That particular prisoner belongs to the more privileged class he has in his possession a number of documents in relation to the work of the ‘pardon unit’ of the Welikada prison as proof of malpractices Investigations are been carried out as to how Mahesh got these documents into his possession.
It had been confirmed that the prisoners who were sentenced to 25 year imprisonment had been reduced to five years and then released giving a concession. Such prisoners are released via anther prison. Hence the correct stand cannot be proved easily.
It had been proved that with the help and support of certain higher officials of the prison are sought for this type of reduction periods in prison only for a certain group of so called VIP prisoners.who are also classified as prestigious ones.
It had also been revealed and proved that for reduction of the period they had been bribed by paying a large sum of money. Those names of prisoners who’s terms were reduced and the names of those Officials who approved them are in the possession of Mahesh The relatives of the two prisoners who were on the roof had come down only after their family members have had talks with the higher officials in another prison building
It is reported that these vital documents are safely kept in the possession of Mahesh while he is taking treatment at the Colombo’s National hospital.
