FOUR BROTHELS RAIDED AT KOLLUPITIYA

Last evening (11th), the Officers of the Police head quarters special detection unit raided 4 clubs in Kolluptiya area. They were successful in arresting many prostitutes and Mangers attached to these clubs.
The clubs had run mainly under the pretext as karaoke’s. They had raided the ‘Sunhil’ club and three other clubs. The Police team had been able to arrest some while others mainly Thai, Chinese ,Indians and Sri Lankan prostitutes had escaped by jumping over parapet walls and entering shops in the vicinity and in entering in to neighbouring compounds of houses. It was learnt that the owners had taken licences to carry out night club business but had failed to renew the licences on time.
The charges of these girls ranged from Rs 3500/- upwards and it is learnt that there had been political backing. Hence the Police had delayed in raiding these clubs. It is learnt that owing to conflicts the owners has had with some politicians. However unofficial reports reveal that son of a leading politician has come along with some friends by giving bogus excuses to the parents to obtain services from these prostitutes. This is the closest reason for the Police authorities to have taken this decision.
