Two days before the incident suspect Maduranga and his girl friend had dined together a famous restaurant in Colombo (Revealed through the CCTV cameras)
There is some suspicion about the girl’s confession whether the truth was disclosed?
She had applied for a visa to flee from the country
The case on the triple murder case in Ratmalana was taken up for hearing yesterday. The Police had disclosed to the Magistrate certain facts they had found which were not revealed earlier about the suspect and his girl friend.
Although the girl friend , the 21 year old ,teacher at an International school in Negombo had confessed that she never knew that Maduranga was a bachelor,
there is some suspicion that she had known the correct facts that he was married having two kids. Therefore the earlier information she had confessed had proved to be wrong. She also had confessed that she had known Maduranga only for a couple of months and had met only occasionally on a few times only.
When the Police had made intensive investigations, it has been revealed that the two had met two days before the incident on the 15th December and had dined together at a famous restaurant in Colombo. This had been revealed through videos of CCTV cameras at the restaurant .In this context there is suspicion that the murders would have been made by planning together..
Some of the pictures that were captured revealed to a certain extent that the girl friend may have known about the triple murders that were to take place. At the
hearing the Magistrate had ordered the Police to find from employees of these hotels and restaurants more information about the two and to produce the information at the next hearing.
The girl has had in her possession two mobile phones. One had been a present from Maduranga. The magistrate had ordered the Police to make further investigations about calls received and calls given. Maduranga has had in his possession three laptops and two dongles, and three mobile phones. The Magistrate had ordered the Police to obtain detailed information through investigations.
The girl friend had applied for a visa to flee from the country. The Magistrate had ordered the Police to take precautionary measures in preventing her from fleeing the country.
The suspect had been ordered to be further remanded until the 7th of this month when the next hearing is to be heard. The Police investigations would reveal further information not surfaced while the investigations are conducted.
