DELHI VICTIM’S BOY FRIEND SPEAKS OUT

The boy friend of Indian female medical student who was subjected to gang rape speaks to the media

On a day in the month of last December an incident astonished and perturbed the people all over the world when a female medical student in New Delhi was gang raped causing her serious injuries ultimately had to pay for her death. The only evidence for the case in courts was given by her young boy friend that was with her at the time of the incident and knew the whole story although he too was battered and assaulted by iron rods breaking his own legs. The cruelest manner she was raped by a gang was described to the Magistrate in a voice with the most sensitive feeling one could imagine while on a wheel chair.

“We were to get married. That day of the incident both of us went to see a film “Life of P”. After the film both of us boarded a bus as I wanted to drop her. There were a only a few passengers in the bus. While travelling on it turned into an unusual route. The doors of the bus were closed. We felt that something unusual was going to happen. Obviously we were perturbed as to what was in store for us. One in the gang came close to me with an iron bar. I cannot explain how this gagster’s behaved. One assaulted me with the iron bar until my legs were broken, when I fell down unconscious. When I was assaulted my girl friend tried to call home with her mobile, which did not allow. Then they, six in number dragged her to the rear seat in the bus. The six of them raped her taking turns and in the meantime she too was fiercely assaulted causing severe injuries. I could hear what was going on when I gained my consciousness.
I heard one gang man saying she is dead now. They pushed both of us who were nude (without any clothes) out of the bus. She was seriously hurt with blood pouring from all parts of her body from the injuries sustained. When we were left helpless and battered near the road side cars, vans and motor cycles were speeding past us. On seeing us they reduced their speed. Just watched and proceeded in the same speed. No one stopped. One person asked what happened and left. No one came to our rescue.
The police arrived at the scene only after about 20 minutes. They were not interested in taking us quickly to hospital. The police officer who stood by us asked who did this to you.  Later only, we were taken to hospital. After my wounds were dressed they brought me to Police custody and kept me for four days. Before she died the Magistrate was briefed about all what had happened. She had told that they should be given the highest punishment. They should be burnt alive. That is the highest respect you could do for the damage they did for me. There are enough and more girls are raped like this. These happenings should be completely eradicated from this world.”
