SUDARMAN RADALIYAGODA TO ENTER CINEMA

Sudarman Radaliyadoda to take up acting:

Although his son a Tele drama actor and wife is a famous seamstress, he never discloses their talents about them to the outside world:
Although an open warrant has been issued to arrest Sudarman Radaliyagoda for a massive fraud at the Sri Lanka Telecom stores, the suspect who is a Deputy General Manager at the Independent Television Network is living; leading a normal life. He is well supported by the Police as he is a staunch supporter of the Government. It is learnt that he is to enter the cinema in the film Sri Dalada Gamanya. His son Sachin is still school going and has portrayed many roles in Tele dramas, his wife Nilmini is a competent and popular seamstress. An interview of Radaliyadda family has had been published in Rivira, tabloid edition “Miulasi”. Certain excerpts from their interview are published below:

We heard that Sudarman is planning to enter cinema? Is that story true?
It was through sheer accident. When I went to drop my son for shooting, I too was invited for a role. Even though I thought it was a small role, it was a main role in Sri Dalada Gamanaya. It was the role of the Chief Commander. I contributed a lot and did my best to reap maximum benefits from the opportunity I got. I never had the dream of becoming an actor but I gained a new experience from this role.

Does it mean that Sudarman will be an actor in the near future?
A main role of a Tele drama is on my way but I haven’t thought of making acting as a career.

Is Sudarman planning to leave media?
My journey started as a journalist at Dinakara newspaper. Currently, I work as the Deputy General Manager of news and current issues in the ITN which is like my home. Whatever I’m been offered, I will not leave my second home.

How did you become successful as a family?
We were not born rich. I have been working after marriage. My wife was working as seamstress. I think we stood on our own and we have been successful and owe it purely due to the dedication and hard work. Before the 20th year of our wedding anniversary we have had reached the climax of success. I am really proud and happy about what we have achieved and earned.

Sudarman’s wife, Nilmini is using her maiden name Nilmini Ellepola in her career. This is what she had about it:
Sudarman has won a name in media. I prefer to be popular and known using my name other than been called his wife. I didn’t want to sell my clothes using his name. My son too shares the same concept. Even though he too has acted from his childhood days, nobody knew that he was Sudarman’s son.
We want to build an identity on our own and we are not a family which hunts after money.  Our only hope is to ensure a future for our son. We don’t expect him to be an actor so that we can be happy. I always tell him not to use his father’s name to achieve anything. I prefer if he can one day come to great heights so that Sudarman will be called as Sachin Radaliyadda’a father.
