On last Friday the 14th instant a friendly softball cricket match was played between a Wedda team and a Parliament team at the Badulla football play grounds. The Parliament team became victorious by a margin of 29 runs.
The toss was won by the Wedda’s team’s captain Uruwirige Heenbanda who invited the Parliament to bat first. The Parliament team was limited to a total of 119 runs for loss of 9 wickets.
Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Dullas Alahapperuma opened the batting. Namal Rajapaksa was appropriately named as the ‘Man of the Match’ for scoring 23 runs, taking 3 wickets, involving in a run out and for taking two catches.
