- Chinese who swallowed the diamond tells in court
The Chinese who swallowed a diamond at the Diamond& Jewelry exhibition held recently at the BMICH in Sri Lanka was taken before courts the day before yesterday and he had stated that he is very busy and that he needs to go back to his country soon. Thus he has requested for a decision soon.
The Chinese named Sue Chen who had been under arrest had been taken before courts the day before yesterday with a translator from the bureau of Chinese Foreign Service in Sri Lanka.
Before the Magistrate, Rashmi Singappuli Cinnamon Gardens Police station had reported that the 7 diamonds which had been found from the bag of this Chinese and the one he had swallowed had been fake ones.
Therefore, the police suspect that the other Chinese who had come with the suspect would have stolen the diamond and fled away. However, the Police have not been able to find anything regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.
Since the investigations are still on, the Police requested the Magistrate that the Chinese suspect will be needed in the future for further investigations.
Magistrate questioned the Chinese as to what he has to say regarding the accusations against him. With the help of the translator, he has said that:
“I am busy… I have to go back to my country soon…Tell me the fine; I will pay so that I can go back to China.”
The Magistrate ordered to remand the Chinese till the 01st of next month and that the Police could question him at any time it is required.
