TANGALLE U.C MEMBER’S ‘GONI BILLA’ DRAMA

After raping a 14 year old minor girl Tangalle’s Urban Council Member in a ‘ Goni Billa’ game:

It is learnt that a 14 year old minor girl had been forcibly kept in a Guest house for three weeks after this innocent girl was raped. There had been 6 persons involved in this unfortunate incident. The main suspect is Tangalle’s U.C.,UNFA member and a so called Media Secretary of a Minister Mahinda Amaraweera by name Asanga Liyanage, together with 4 others.
All had surrendered to the Police after the people of the Tangalle area had made protest demonstrations in Tangalle town. The Police had produced before courts .All have been ordered to be remanded until the 17th of this month.
When they were brought to courts and when they were leaving all had covered themselves fully with ‘kaki’ clothes and sarongs.  They had done to prevent the people from identifying their faces and to escape from Media photographers from taking photographs.
The 14 year old young minor girl had left home to attend for her tuition classes. As she did not return home, the parents had complained to the Police. But unfortunately owing to political pressure had hampered police from arresting the suspects. Their efforts had proved futile. The girl had returned home only after three weeks. She had been kept forcibly and used her for sex at Tangalle’s ‘Namal Hotel’. She had confessed that 5 persons had harassed her sexually during this period.
Although the Police, Child and Women’s Care officials had made attempts to arrest them, there had been pressurised by political personnel. The people of Tangalle had made strong protests and demonstrations in the centre of the town in Tangalle. The suspects as a last resort and alternative Anjana Liyanage,Pradeep Galapaththy, Sampath Lankatilaka and K.H Charminda had surrendered to the Police
The lawyers who appeared for the suspects had requested to give strict security for the suspects..
