EMBARASSMENT AND INCONVENIENCE CAUSED AFTER CHANGE IN Z SCORE:

The student placed first has become the second with the release of revised marks:

After the Z score complication the student who came first in the Arts stream had become the second when the new Z marks were revised and released. The student who became second had become the first which had caused the former student to feel very awkward, embarrassed especially as she was hailed, acclaimed by organising ceremonies to celebrate her resounding success.
The 2011 Advanced level examination results which was subjected to much debate and criticism was challenged via a petition to the Supreme court .This resulted in ordering the University Grants Commission to revise the marks under the two different syllabuses. In the Arts stream when the new results were released, the student who became the first had become the second and the student who became the second had become the first in all island results.
Now the student with best results is named as Galle’s Southland Balika Vidyalaya’s Chaminda Umesha and not Kegalle’s Sachinthani Kaushalya. At that time when the initial results were released this topic of the student who topped the marks was highlighted in the media and various ceremonies were held to felicitate her. At that time  Sachinthani was held in very high esteem, hailed and acclaimed at her school and at District levels.
According to the previous results released the student who came second had a Z score figure of 2.5910, the student from Galle’s Southlands Balika Vidyalaya had obtained a Z score figure of 2.7991 when the revised Z score figures were released.
These types of lapses all those intellectuals in the educational sector should take into very serious consideration and is food for thought for them.
As a result the student was made to know that she had become second had caused a lot of embarrassment and a tremendous pain of mind and loss of self respect for her personal reputation.
