A Deer who had tried to cross the road had died after a mishap with a motor cycle
Usually it is heard of accidents involving people, stray dogs and cattle while crossing the road. However yesterday early morning around 5 A.M a fish merchant riding a motor cycle had knocked down a Deer to death while the animal was trying to cross the road between the Athurugiriya Police station and Habaragoda. The Deer had died after the accident.
The motor cycle had been ridden by 46 year old K.A.Samarasena from Piliyandala. He too had sustained injuries and had been admitted to the Homagama hospital where he is now treated. The people in the neighbourhood had informed the wild life office in Battaramulla. They had taken the Deer away and after a post mortem had buried the Deer.
The photographs shown below shows how the people flocked to see the dead Deer, the Police giving protection and the manner the dead Deer was carried away by the staff of Wild life office.
