A new road as opened by Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa by swimming across the Pinga Oya:
Last week the Member of Parliament, Namal Rajapaksa was invited by another Member of Parliament Eric Weerawardena in the Harispattu area to open two newly built roads on the banks and vicinity of Pinga Oya.
After opening one road the Member of Parliament Eric Weerawardena invited M.P Namal Rajapaksa to travel by a vehicle to open the other road built close on the other side of the bank of the Pinga oya. To travel to the other side of the Oya a distance to travel in a vehicle was about 15 kilometers.
M.P Namal Rajapaksa inquired whether it is possible to swim across to the other side of Pinga Oya as the route to the other new road as very much closer if one crosses the Pinga Oya. The distance was about only 100 metres. Then Namal Rajapaksa had inquired whether the water was deep or shallow. The answer was that the water in the Pinga Oya was shallow.
Namal Rajapaksa decided to swim across the Pinga Oya and attended to the opening ceremony of the second road and he swum back to his former place within a short time from here he took off and returned to Colombo.
