TEMPERATURE LOWERS ISLAND WIDE

Today is unusually cold!
A record breaking low temperature in Colombo:

It is reported by the authorities of the Meteorological Department that very unusual low cold temperatures have been experienced by those living in Colombo.
According to reports released by the authorities of the Meteorological Department the temperatures in various parts of the country are as follows:
In Colombo:         18.2 degrees C
In Anuradhapura: 18.8 degrees C
In Jaffna:                 19.1 degrees C
In Trincomalee:     20.1 degrees C
In Nuwara Eliya:    7.7 degrees C
It reveals that all these temperatures are much below the usual temperatures that prevail in these cities usually. The reason for this has been clarified by the authorities of the Meteorological Department as due to an  inter- monsoon weather condition.

RECORD TEMPERATURE IN COLOMBO:
Today’s 18.2 degrees C temperature recorded in Colombo it is reliably learnt and confirmed as the second lowest temperature recorded in Colombo for over 6 decades, to be precise 61 years. The lowest temperature recorded in Colombo previously had been 15.2 degrees C recorded on the 4th January 1950.On the 13th January 2011 a temperature of 18.8 degrees C was the second lowest temperature recorded previously.
