Police use tear gas to disperse for protestors against budget:
A campaign to arouse public concern against the government for not giving any relief to the poor masses was organised by the socialist students union of the JVP party.
With some placards they had organised a possession starting from the Fort railway station up to the Office of the Ministry of Finance. Their main message and objective was to give to the Government to offer jobs to the unemployed youth and to offer redress to the poor masses particularly to the younger generation.
They were prevented from going towards the direction of the premises of the Ministry of Finance as it is labelled as a high security Zone. The Police had to intervene by using tear gas in dispersing the crowd. During the time of the possession there was a very heavy traffic jam.
During the clashes of the two factions 15 injured were admitted to hospital for treatment, out of them 7 were police Officers.
