Pardon to Sarath Fonseka from President?
According to reports that were released last Saturday former Army Commander, Sarath Fonseka who is once again sentenced to jail for three years, the President’s attention is drawn to give him a ‘pardon’.
According to President’s Media Director, Bandula Jayasekera, the wife of Sarath Fonseka, Anoma Fonseka had been advised to refrain from taking this matter internationally, instead of meeting President to seek his ‘pardon’.
However when this same question propped up the Fonseka faction was not at all keen for that proposal citing seeking pardon as he had not committed any offence to seek a ‘pardon’.
After the verdict was delivered to sentence Sarath Fonseka for three years jail sentence, it has been decided this matter to be informed internationally, particularly to President Barak Obama of America, through the internet by signing a petition by citizens of Sri Lanka.
However President’s Secretary Bandula Jayasekera had reiterated Anoma Fonseka, instead of making a long trip to America in this case to meet our President in Sri Lanka itself and get the matter resolved easily. This option is wide open to her.
For this the Fonseka faction is yet to decide on this matter.
