APSARA SPEAKS

Apsara airs her views about her father in a interview with ‘Lankadeepa’, paper:

Former Army Commanders’ daughter Apsara during an interview she has had with a Sunday weekend paper had related some very sorrowful stories.
After her schooling career at Musaeus College she had gone to America and obtained a diploma in Business Management My father was deprived of attending my convocation as he was jailed. He regrets very much for it.
Apsara is well aware all the sacrifices her mother makes on behalf of her father, which she appreciates very much. She is employed at present and her husband is not living with her. He had been taken 23 times for questioning by the CID.
It is very sad to imagine that a person of my fathers’ calibre while he was the Commander of the Army was able to bring to a halt the prolonged ethnic war is now imprisoned and to see him wearing a ‘jumper’ and living in a cell. This is a situation we just cannot bear.
The feelings we had within us when the verdict was given that he is sentenced to three years jail sentence is something that we cannot explain. Apsara had disclosed that they are seeking help internationally to obtain redress. She says she often offers flowers and worship Lord Buddha to shower blessings upon him to seek assistance for his release.
She had said ‘not to forget her father’. What appeared in the Sundays Lankadeepa paper could be read from BELOW
