An institution under the purview of the National Child Protection Authority had received that this centre is abusing the powers and the laid down regulations and was up to a racket it had been reported. In order to find the truth of this racket in the institution the Baby farm located at Rawatawatta, Moratuwa was subjected to an inspection by the Officials of the National Child Protection Authority.
Initially they had found on suspicion that certain body parts of deformed infants were found to be sent to foreign countries for budding purposes. At the time of the raid and inspection there had been 75 infants. Out of this amount only 29 infants had been officially handed over the institution by the NCPU. In addition there were 16 infants that could not be accounted for as been handed over by the National Child Protection Authority. To add to this figure there were 30 other infants unaccounted.
There were 20 pregnant women and 12 newly born infants with their mothers. At the time of the inspection further suspicion had arisen as there was a foreign lady. When she was questioned she had said she had come to take away a child with a defect in the tongue for treatment. This fact made the Police to suspect that a racket involving foreigners were taking place in the institution.
It had been reported that several pregnant mothers after child birth leave the Institution without the infant. It was learnt that on the sly these babies are sold to foreigners and even to local people which was revealed during the inspection. Further investigations are been conducted.
This is not true, this center brings unwedded mothers (trying to abort their babies) to the center and ensures that they let life come into the world which is legal, I do agree that they had a underage (14 year) mother who was not register or not been informed by the adoption center to the area police, for this I say the adoption center has been wise by not doing so because the moment they inform the Police and the Police get a statement from the underage mother the next day she has vanished without anyones knowledge to abort the baby, so I think the Police, the child protection authority has to formulate a system that will give more courage and security to the mother to deliver the child. I also heard that there are some abortion doctors who have been behind this center to use the final nail on this adoption center to ensure their business is uninterrupted
ReplyDeleteThis institution is run by respected minority religious organisation. They have helped thousands of homeless SRI LANKANS without much publicity and living for the day. Very often infants are left at their door, so what do they do? they take care of the child and through the proper authorities give the child for adoption . Nothing is done underhand. If they had made money by trading children they would have had food for the next day, but sad to say, they rely on donations and handouts. Pregnant women are found on the streets and brought to this home and taken care of. Why dont the very concerned now, walk on the street and see whats happening on our public roads, there are so may cases like these roaming, kicked out from home etc. Do the now very concerned do any thing about this. Come to Kirilapona Traffic lights, there is a very young mother with a infant begging, what is the very concerned doing about this mother, cannot see, if this child and mother was taken and looked after by this minority religious institution, its a crime. Come Very Concerned, wake up to reality and do not focus on the minority religious organisations. If infnts are exported to forwign countries, their is a authority to look into when departing SL, who must take the responsibility, if is so there are so many persons to be taken in. The NCPA who is there to monster these places should be most accountable for not checking up or updating their visits to these homes, they also should arrested for idling and not doing a proper job. When it comes to arresting and remanding persons, there are so many answrable. But please do not make this a religious issue.
