The funeral of slain Ex M.P Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra took place amidst of thousands of mourners at the  Umagiliya playground Kolonnawa yesterday.
Before the cremation daughter of slain leader Hirunika Premachandra made a brief but a very stern and powerful speech. She made a plea to all the mourning Kolonnawa people to stand up on behalf of ‘Lucky Aiya’. Her speech was so impressive and showed signs of a speech of a veteran politician.
Her speech was as follows:
“Today we lost not mine and my brother’s father, not the husband of my mother, but we lost your beloved ‘Lucky Aiya’. My father was blatantly killed by going to speak and speak bravely on behalf of you all. The person who stood tall and spoke on your behalf of you all is today silent.
The person who strode in front like a real ‘Lion’ is today silent. I appeal to all you very grateful supporters to follow the same path shown by this fearless leader be continued from this moment onwards.
Before I conclude this speech I wish to ask one question. What could you do on behalf of my father who was brutally killed?
We shall stand up to respect this brave leader on behalf of ‘Lucky Aiya’. We shall stand up. The decision to implement is up to you.”
