PROFESSOR MENDIS ROHANADEERA PASSES AWAY

Demise of Professor Mendis Rohanadeera

Professor Mendis Rohanadeera, an eminent Historian in the country has passed away this morning at the Colombo’s National Hospital after he was admitted last night to the hospital.
He had served as a Professor of History at the Sri Jayewardenapura University for a number of years. He had been the author of several books, mostly about History. He had contributed to many programmes to the local television and was instrumental in taking the major role in the programme ‘ Maha Sinhalaye Wansa Kathawa’.
He was 81 years old at the time of his demise. His remains lie at a private funeral parlour in Colombo and would be taken to his residence at Sri Subitha Pura, Battaramulla in the evening.
His funeral is reported to be held on next Wednesday.
