Sanath Jayasuriya heads ICC 'match fixing' list
With Sri Lanka's name being reported as the most corrupted country regarding cheating in Cricket in the whole world ... an inexplicit situation has cropped up in the minds of Cricket fans. The reason for it is the absence of confirmation of corruption to the extent in comparison to to other countries as depicted in the media.
However, according to the report forwarded to President and Prime Minister of this country by general manager Alexis Marshal of the anti-corruption unit of international cricket council which carried out a survey on Sri Lanka Cricket, names of even those who just cannot be believed are revealed. Tapes of recordings of discussions of former captain Angelo Matthews, Sachithra Senanayaka, Vanindu Hasaranga, Chathuranga de Silva, Dhanushka Goonatilleka and Niroshan Dikwella with bookmakers about 'match fixing' and that they were guilty for having engaged in the game after that and that Geoffrey Dabarera is linked to 'pitch fixing' have been mentioned in those reports while it was also found that head of Cricket selection committee Sanath Jayasuriya has been named as the person who is responsible for both 'match fixing' and 'pitch fixing', it is reported.
ICC in fact has conducted this survey after the lengthy programme information related to corruption in Sri Lankan cricket revealed by Al-Jazeera Channel recently. It has been proposed to establish an anti-corruption unit branch in Sri Lanka under the International Cricket Council and judicial procedures would be adopted in connection with the alleged cases of corruption.
