Q: How did you get to know Madhura?
A: There were some missed calls and SMSs during the end of November 2012
Q: what were there on SMSs?
A: I know him. I was asked not to talk. I didn’t respond at first yet since there
were a lot of missed calls, I made a call.
Q: Who answered the phone?
A: Someone called Madhura. I asked him where he found my number.
Q: What did he say?
A: He didn’t answer that question. He said that he has only his mother and his job and that his father is dead. He told me that he lives in Kalutara. Then he asked me to ask him something else. He has never told me how he found my number. He spoke in English and he told me that he was 27 years old. Yet, he told me again that it was four years ago. I asked him how he knew me and he told me that he has seen me in a bus.
Q: Where do you go for classes?
A: I go to an institute in Torrington to follow a diploma in French. I go there during the weekend and the classes start at 9 o’clock and ends at 11.30.
Q: What did he first say?
A: He said that he saw me on Face book and found my number.
Q: Then?
A: He said that he would drop me since he is going towards Pettah. We reached Pettah in less than 15 minutes. Then, he said that he wants to talk to me and he went to drop me at Marawila.
Q: What did he say on the way?
A: He said that he isn’t married and that he has fallen in love with me. He told that I am “the one” and that’s why he has fallen in love with me. I asked whether he has been in a relationship with someone else. He said he had one and that ended because it didn’t match with his age and since they lacked understanding. He told me that his marriage was delayed because he has been busy. He said that he wants to start a life with me and that he has everything that we need for that. He told me that the only thing he asks for is love for both of them. When I asked who the other one is, he told me that it’s his mother and him. We reached Marawila at around 2.45PM.
Q: When did you two meet again?
A: On the Following Saturday. He phoned me before that and told me that he won an award from his company and that he is planning to buy a car. He told me that I bring luck to him every time we meet. He asked me what I want and I said that I don’t want anything. He told me that he would buy me something. One day while walking towards Galle Face, he bought me a ring and some bangles. We ate at MacDonald’s at Wattala.
Q: What he say on his way back?
A: I told him that he is a Buddhist and then he told me that he will learn our religion. He asked me several questions of my religion and how he can learn. He told that my parents will like us if he changes his religion since that is the only problem. He told that he will be home by 8.45 and to call him around 9 to 9.15.
Q: Were your parents aware of this?
A: I have told my mother even though he didn’t know.
Q: What did your mother say?
A: She said that she will find about him.
Q: Then?
A: I have left the phone last Sunday when I went to the church. Madhura has called and thought that I don’t have credit in my phone and he has reloaded it. He has reloaded me several times before. When I called him back, he told me that he is going to K-Zone. He called me from there and told me that he has bought me a perfume. First I said no but then I said yes. After we got to know better, we spoke for an hour every day.
Q: What happened before the murder on the 17th?
A: Madhura’s phone didn’t work and then I texted him and asked as to why. He said that he is in a training and that it was arranged suddenly. He sent me a message and told me that he cannot talk. Then, he messaged me asking to watch news at 8 o’clock. I asked as to why he wants me to watch TV when we have enough problems.
Then, he texted me saying that he has to go to Singapore for an inquiry. Then he
texted me saying that he is on his way to the airport. Then, his phone was switched off. Next day, he has texted me saying that he is in Singapore. He said that he will text me once he sought out all his problems. Then, he said that the people who are carrying out the inquiry will call me and he asked me to switch off my phone. I said I can’t do that because school children call me.
Then, I got a call from Mount Lavinia police station and I was told everything. Then only I knew the whole story.
