Saying 'We are fiscal', they came to a house in Kalubowila late at night and threw the residents out.

Former Municipal Councillor of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, Mr. Nimal Bulathsinghala, has requested the police to conduct a formal investigation into the group that forcibly entered a house on Kalubowila Hospital Road at night and harassed the residents, and to enforce the law against the suspects. On the 1st of last month, around 9:00 PM, a group of 15 people arrived by car and other means and entered the house at No. 161, Kalubowila Hospital Road.

Seven complaints have so far been lodged with the Kohuwala Police regarding these harassments, which involved the group claiming to be fiscal officers, dragging out the people who were there.

The councillor points out that the police have only investigated one of the complaints lodged, and if all complaints had been considered, it would have been possible to identify the suspects who arrived. As the identity of this group, who arrived without any court order, has not been confirmed, the residents living in the building on a rental basis are in great fear. Furthermore, he states that with the circulating rumour that the vehicle used by the suspects has been set on fire, many questions arise regarding how and where the incident took place.

Although the Kohuwala Police Station OIC has provided assistance for the investigations, there is suspicion that another officer below him is obstructing the investigative work. Therefore, a request has also been made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mount Lavinia, to take appropriate action regarding this matter. When inquired about this, Police Station OIC Chief Inspector Janaka Kumara stated that two suspects connected to the incident have been arrested and produced before the court, and further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
