Risk of a billion lives lost due to AI - Bill Gates points out

Mr. Bill Gates is urging American lawmakers and law enforcement agencies to swiftly implement proper regulation for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participating in an interview with NBC, he strongly warned that if AI is allowed to develop without proper control, there is a risk of approximately one billion people losing their lives, and that self-regulatory mechanisms alone would be entirely insufficient for this.

According to the report in the file named A9.jpg, the Microsoft co-founder emphasized that the intervention of politicians as well as legal sectors is an essential factor for monitoring this technology and developing safe methodologies.

Mr. Gates points out that although this regulatory process may incur some additional costs for the industry, it will not entirely hinder the overall progress of the industry. He fears that if artificial intelligence falls into the hands of individuals with malicious intentions, tragedies unprecedented in history could be created. Other field experts have also pointed out that there is a severe risk of catastrophic situations such as biological weapons and nuclear wars arising through the use of modern AI technology by those with bad intentions. It is also noteworthy that Mr. Gates' latest comments come after a lengthy essay of approximately 6,000 words he published last August, detailing the deadly impacts AI could have on humanity.

Other leading technology entrepreneurs such as Sam Altman and Elon Musk had previously urged authorities to control the pace of artificial intelligence development. Meanwhile, Microsoft is also facing accusations from various parties regarding its alleged support for the misuse of artificial intelligence. A group of the company's own employees and human rights activists have launched a strike campaign against Microsoft for providing AI technology to Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip and Iran, as well as to the US Department of Homeland Security for monitoring and mass deportation of migrants.

Mr. Gates' public comments and essays are considered his most significant public appearances since becoming embroiled in the controversial Jeffrey Epstein scandal. According to an external review conducted by the Gates Foundation, a report released last July revealed that Mr. Gates and several other leaders attended approximately 30 meetings with Epstein between 2011 and 2014. However, Mr. Gates states that he has no connection to Epstein's crimes and has expressed deep regret for every moment spent with Epstein.

In a lighter moment during the interview, when asked by the journalist if there were instances where he deliberately avoided using artificial intelligence, Mr. Gates, with a smile, stated that he absolutely does not seek the help of artificial intelligence for building personal relationships. He further commented that his normal life spent with family members and friends is sufficient for him, and that he does not attempt to socialize with artificial intelligence.
