Former Minister of Health, Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on the charge of illegally recruiting six unnecessary employees, violating the approved staff limits of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
The former minister appeared before the Bribery Commission this morning to give a statement for the investigations related to this incident, and this arrest was made after officials extensively recorded his statement.
Investigating officers have revealed that due to these irregularly made appointments, the National Rupavahini Corporation and the government have incurred a financial loss of 14.3 million rupees (143 lakhs).
Regarding the incident, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is actively conducting further investigations.
