Steps have been taken to appoint former strong batsman Hashan Tillakaratne as the new batting coach of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. This appointment, effective from August 20th of this year, will remain valid until December 31st of next year.
Representing the national team from 1989 to 2003, Hashan Tillakaratne has scored 8,200 international runs playing in 83 Test matches and 200 One Day Internationals. He also captained the Sri Lanka national team and was a key member of the Sri Lanka squad that won the One Day World Cup in 1996.
Having previously served as the head coach of the Sri Lanka national women's cricket team, he has also held the position of head coach for the Bangladesh women's cricket team, gaining significant experience as a coach.
