A married couple arrested with a stock of drugs after raiding a beauty salon in Matara

Police have succeeded in arresting a husband and wife with a stock of drugs worth millions of rupees during a sudden raid conducted inside a beauty salon operated near the Matara railway station. This operation was carried out based on intelligence information received by officers of the Matara Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit.

During this raid, 2 kg and 45 grams of heroin and 56 grams and 800 milligrams of 'Ice' drug have been taken into police custody. In addition, a sum of Rs. 625,000 suspected to have been earned from drug trafficking and 5 mobile phones used for the trafficking have also been found.

The husband and wife arrested in connection with the incident have been identified as residents of the Wilegoda area in Matara. It has been further revealed during investigations that they maintained close ties with leading drug traffickers and have been carrying out this trafficking.
