Mr. Suresh Salley, former Head of State Intelligence Service and retired Major General, who is currently detained by the Criminal Investigation Department, has decided to temporarily suspend the hunger strike he had been engaged in, his lawyer Mr. Asith Siriwardhana revealed to the media. The former intelligence chief made this decision to consume food after considering the special instructions and legal clarifications provided by his lawyers.He commenced this fast during the period he was under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on a detention order, and due to the deterioration of his health, steps were taken to admit him to the Colombo National Hospital. Even after hospitalization, he refused to take food orally, but the hospital staff arranged to provide his body with necessary nutrients via saline. Furthermore, due to a developing heart condition, Mr. Suresh Salley was transferred to the hospital's cardiology ward a few days ago, where he received treatment.
