Suspicion that the story about Dematagoda Chaminda being killed is his own fabrication

A wide-ranging investigation has now commenced regarding the rumour circulating that there is a plan to assassinate Chaminda Ravi Jayanath alias 'Dematagoda Chaminda', who has been sentenced to death for the murder of Mr. Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and is currently detained at Boossa High-Security Prison. These investigations have been launched by the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau, and the police strongly suspect that this could be a story fabricated by himself.

Intelligence agencies had uncovered information throughout the past period that while being an inmate at Boossa Prison, he was using mobile phones to operate various criminal networks. As a step to control this situation, authorities decided to transfer him to the Welisara Naval Base. Following the leak of information about this plan, an audio clip began circulating rapidly on social media, stating that Dematagoda Chaminda would be assassinated if he were taken to the Welisara camp.

Based on this controversial incident, the relevant investigations are being carried out under the direct supervision of the Director of the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Kamal Ariyawansa. After reporting the facts to the court regarding this matter, investigators have also been granted permission to record statements from high-ranking officials of the Boossa High-Security Prison and from Dematagoda Chaminda. However, the police further surmise that Dematagoda Chaminda himself orchestrated this assassination threat drama with the aim of disrupting the process of transferring him to the Welisara Naval Base.
