A group of people who came to the house in Midigama set fire to the Honda Civic car, shot at it, and fled.

An unknown gunman opened fire at the house of a businessman located in the Yahawatta area of Gangoda, Midigama, yesterday (18) between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM.

These suspects, who arrived on a motorcycle, opened the house gate, entered the premises, and first set fire to a Honda Civic car parked there. Afterwards, they fired about five rounds towards the house using a T-56 firearm and fled.

The fire in the car was immediately extinguished by the residents using water, resulting in only minor damage. However, due to the gunfire, the walls, door, and windows of the house, as well as the car, sustained damage. Nevertheless, at the time of the attack, the 35-year-old businessman (house owner), his wife, their two children, and another adult were inside the house, but none of them suffered any loss of life or injuries.

The police also found 10 live rounds at the crime scene, and it is suspected that this incident occurred due to a dispute between the underworld gang known as "Midigama Lansi" and the businessman concerned. Midigama Police have deployed three special police teams to arrest the suspects involved in this incident and have currently launched a comprehensive investigation.
