Vegetable businessman caught hiding diesel stocks

A vegetable businessman in the Gampaha, Malwathuhiripitiya area was arrested on suspicion the day before yesterday (02) evening for illegally storing 412 liters of diesel at his home without a license. The Police Special Task Force stated that a team of officers from the Dangolla camp carried out this arrest.




The Police Special Task Force further stated that the suspect businessman and the two relevant diesel barrels were handed over to the Malwathuhiripitiya Police for further investigation. This businessman owns three lorries and regularly transports and sells vegetables from the Dambulla Economic Centre. Information has been revealed that he obtained the diesel required for his three lorries, used for transporting vegetables, from a fuel station and stored it at home.

Police sources revealed that this information came to light based on statements made by the arrested vegetable businessman. The suspect businessman was scheduled to be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate's Court yesterday (03).
