A power cut soon

Energy Minister Mr. Kumar Jayakody stated today (17) in Parliament that although there has been no suspension of electricity supply so far due to the fuel shortage that has arisen in the country, there is a risk of electricity cuts for a certain period in the future.

The Minister made this statement in response to a question raised in the House by Opposition Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa under Standing Order 27 (2).

He further stated that the government has been able to manage the situation without any electricity cuts, not even for an hour, so far. However, he emphasized that given the prevailing crisis situation, the possibility of a situation arising where electricity disconnection might be necessary in the future cannot be ruled out.
