Maithri Wickremesinghe summons FCID

Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been informed to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation concerning her husband.

It is reported that this notification was conveyed to her through the Kollupitiya Police, instructing her to appear before the said division on the 20th of this month for the relevant investigative activities.

She has been summoned to inquire into matters related to an ongoing investigation, specifically to ascertain whether any financial criminal offense occurred during a controversial visit to Britain.

The Criminal Investigation Department stated this today (18th) while reporting facts to the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.

These facts were presented to the court by Additional Solicitor General Dilipa Peiris, representing the Attorney General's Department, when the case was called before the court for the announcement of the bail order concerning former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake.
