The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that its Managing Director, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, is scheduled to arrive in the island tomorrow (16) for an official visit, with the aim of personally observing the damage caused to Sri Lanka by Cyclone Ditwa.
The International Monetary Fund further stated that during her visit, Ms. Georgieva is scheduled to meet and hold discussions with high-ranking officials and various stakeholders in the country.
During this visit, Ms. Georgieva will remain in the country until the upcoming 18th. The Fund further informed that special attention will be given to the support the International Monetary Fund can provide to build a strong future for the Sri Lankan people and to re-establish the country's normalcy.
Meanwhile, with the impact of Cyclone Ditwa on the country, the Fund also took steps to delay the completion of the fifth review, which was scheduled to assess the progress of the financial program provided by the International Monetary Fund to Sri Lanka.
