Today (16) Sri Lanka's Dollar and Gold prices

According to the latest data reports from Sri Lanka's financial market, today shows some fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and gold prices. Particularly, when considering the value of the US dollar, slight differences are observed among various banks. According to the official data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the buying price of a dollar is recorded as Rs. 305.04 and the selling price as Rs. 313.04.

Focusing on commercial banks, Sampath Bank has offered a buying price of Rs. 306.25 and a selling price of Rs. 312.75 for a dollar. Seylan Bank's buying price for a dollar is a higher value at Rs. 306.75, while its selling price is Rs. 311.50. At People's Bank, these values are Rs. 304.88 and Rs. 312.42 respectively, and Union Bank maintains a buying price of Rs. 306.00 and a selling price of Rs. 313.00. Commercial Bank's buying price is a lower value at Rs. 303.79, but Nations Trust Bank's selling price for a dollar is a relatively higher value at Rs. 314.54.

Considering the performance of other major foreign currencies, the average buying price of a Euro is recorded as Rs. 352.51 and the selling price as Rs. 365.34. The buying price of a British Pound is Rs. 405.98 and the selling price is Rs. 420.80, maintaining a very high value. An Australian Dollar is bought at Rs. 201.30 and sold at Rs. 212.50, while the buying price of an Indian Rupee is Rs. 3.15 and the selling price is Rs. 3.65. The Canadian Dollar is bought at Rs. 218.40 and the Singapore Dollar at Rs. 234.90. The Japanese Yen has a buying price of Rs. 1.91 and a selling price of Rs. 2.01. The Swiss Franc maintains a high level with a buying price of Rs. 375.50 and a selling price of Rs. 396.80.

Focusing on the local gold market, the price of one gram of 24-carat gold is recorded as Rs. 45,742, and one gram of 22-carat gold as Rs. 42,041. When considering the price per sovereign (8 grams), a commonly used measure by consumers, the price of a 24-carat sovereign is Rs. 365,936, and a 22-carat sovereign is Rs. 336,328. Prices per ounce, used in international trade, are also high, with a 24-carat gold ounce at Rs. 1,425,960 and a 22-carat gold ounce at Rs. 1,307,130. When inquiring about prices per pound (453.6 grams), which are important for bulk purchases, a pound of 24-carat gold is Rs. 20,744,571, and a pound of 22-carat gold is priced at Rs. 19,066,198.
