Attorney General President's Counsel Parinda Ranasinghe stated yesterday (21) in Colombo that if he has committed any wrong, anyone can go before the court. The Attorney General further declared that he is not someone who is above the law and is ready to accept any decision made by the court. The Attorney General made these remarks in front of a group of lawyers.

“As people who know the law, you are aware that I am not someone who is above the law. If I have committed a wrong, there is the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Please go to those places and challenge my decisions. I am ready to agree to any decision that comes through the court,” he added. Meanwhile, a group of people held a silent protest near the Aluthkade Court Complex in Colombo, expressing their opposition to the conduct of Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe.

This protest was organized by a group of civil society activists. They silently expressed their protest by displaying protest boards and banners. In response, a group of lawyers gathered near the court premises to express their support for the Attorney General. They also handed over a message to the Attorney General's Department, titled "Protect the independence of the Attorney General, condemn interference in the judicial process."
