Drug-addicted lover killed daughter and fled with money despite being told not to leave - Death in Angulana elevator cabin

The dead body of a young woman was found yesterday (27) afternoon inside the elevator control room located on an upper floor of the Sayurupura apartment complex in Angulana. These investigations were initiated based on information provided by residents of the apartment complex to the Angulana Police Station, and current examinations have revealed that this was a murder caused by an assault.

The young woman who tragically lost her life in this manner was a 24-year-old resident of Kudawaskaduwa, Wadduwa. Police suspect that an argument between the deceased young woman and her boyfriend escalating was the immediate cause of this murder.

According to reports, various conflicts had existed between this couple for some time, and their parents had previously lodged complaints with the police regarding these issues. Commenting on this, the deceased young woman's father stated that this relationship had existed since the family resided in Kalutara, and there was parental opposition to the relationship because the boyfriend was addicted to drugs. He further stated that an order prohibiting him from meeting her had been issued based on a complaint made to the Kalutara North Police, but his daughter was unwilling to abandon the relationship and would go to meet her boyfriend whenever he called. It is also reported that on the day of the incident, the boyfriend had taken money from her, after which an argument ensued, and she was taken to the elevator control room located on an upper floor of the apartment building. Preliminary investigations have revealed to the police that this death occurred due to a severe assault by the suspect.

After committing the murder, the suspect fled the area, and the Angulana Police have launched a special operation to apprehend him. The magisterial inquiry and post-mortem examination regarding the incident are scheduled to be conducted, and several police teams are conducting further investigations.
