The Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation has made a financial donation of Rs. 250 million to the special fund established by the government to provide relief and rehabilitation for people affected by the emergency disaster situation. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike took the initiative for this, and along with the Foundation's Board of Trustees, she met the Prime Minister to hand over the donation.
The official handover of this sum, donated by the Foundation, to Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya took place at the Prime Minister's Office. This donation was made with the aim of supporting the national program to restore the lives of citizens affected by the disaster.
Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Professor Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, also participated in this event. In addition, several members representing the Board of Directors of the Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation were present at the occasion of this donation.
Social media has responded positively to this donation, appreciating the former President's trust in the current government and her meeting with the current Prime Minister to hand over the funds.
