Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) successfully discovered 12,000 kg of meat unfit for human consumption, stored in an animal farm located in the Anuradhapura District, yesterday (07). It has been revealed that this stock of meat spoiled due to the inability to preserve it, caused by the recent flood situation and power outages.

This investigation was launched following a complaint received by the hotline of the Disaster Management Centre of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

Mr. Pradeep Boralessa, President of the Public Health Inspectors' Association, stated that after inspecting the location and confirming the meat stock was unfit for human consumption, steps were taken to seal it.

Samples from the sealed meat stock are scheduled to be sent to the Government Analyst today (08). Further legal action regarding the incident will be taken based on the reports received from these examinations.
