Considering the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island and the resulting disaster situations, the Department of Examinations has decided not to hold the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination scheduled for today (27) and tomorrow (28). This was announced by Examinations Commissioner General Ms. Indika Liyanage in a special statement.

She stated that this decision was taken because it is not practical to conduct the examination amidst the prevailing adverse weather conditions,

and that candidates will be informed later about the rescheduled dates for the postponed examination papers and related future plans.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner General of Examinations has also issued a special set of instructions to all Provincial and Zonal Directors of Education, officers-in-charge of regional collection centers, coordinating officers, and invigilators. Through these instructions, she strongly emphasized the need to act responsibly, paying special attention to the security of the question papers already distributed to examination coordinating centers.
