Former Minister S.M. Chandrasena has been remanded once again—this time until July 18, 2025—by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court over allegations of misusing state funds.
Chandrasena claims he's the victim here, insisting that he only tried to help poor farmers, and now he's paying the price. According to him, his efforts to support struggling rural communities have been twisted into accusations of corruption.
Adding to the scandal, his own brother and wife have already faced legal action for their involvement in similar allegations of public fund misuse. The case seems to be pulling in the entire family.
Whether this is a case of political targeting or a reckoning for misuse of power, one thing is clear—the controversy surrounding Chandrasena is far from over.
