A three-member committee has been appointed today (23) by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne to investigate the allegations made against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Supreme Court Justice Preethi Padman Surasena has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee.
The other members of the committee are:
Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and former Court of Appeal Judge, Neil Iddawala, and Chairman of the National Police Commission, Lalith Ekanayake.
According to parliamentary sources, the committee is expected to begin its work without delay. The appointment of Neil Iddawala as a member of the committee was made with the full consent of both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
